The Jefferson City Police Department is looking for information on how communities, schools, Law Enforcement Agencies, fund, staff put procedures in place to run an adult crossing guard program. We do have a Safety Patrol Program. What policies or agreements have to be made etc. If anyone has information that they could share with me, please contact me through email at lmartin@jeffcitymo.org . We have paid for the adult crossing guard program over the last 20 plus years, but due to budget constraints we had to cut it. Any ideas are welcome.

If the crossing guards are near the school(s), we used school staff who had a Prep Hour at the end of the school day, or janitorial staff. Perhaps your PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) could help out by offering a rotating schedule with 2-3 deep replacements for those last minute scheduling conflicts.
Doubling up Scouts might also be a goodly possibility, by dismissing them 5 minutes early from their last class. On the same theme, perhaps STUGO (Student Government) members could assist their individual school.
