We are currently trying to get our school district to have intruder drills to comply with the State Statute, however we have been unsuccessful thus far. I have offered my opinion as to training the teachers and students utilizing the A.L.I.C.E. model and have been met with resistance. As a side note they do have a plan which uses the old card system which by their own admission is antiquated at best.
The district has indicated they do not want to teach the children to fight as in the distraction or the swarm technique. We have been through all the arguments, we are not teaching them to fight, we are teaching them to survive. We currently have two SRO's on staff and both have offered the opinion that the A.L.I.C.E. model would be our recommendation.
The district has indicated they would like to look at other models and get a census of what others are doing prior to committing. So could everyone please respond with what model you utilize, where training was received (in house with your own instructors or outside instructors), and how many drills you currently have per year.
Thank you,
