Needing replies or input on how schools are teaching the students any handouts or letters sent home to parents about how schools are preparing for active shooter training? Any accidents training the school kids? MCR-2 is wanting to drill this month! Something I have been pushing for I have instructed the kids about the concept of ALICE; just no live training in classroom setting. If you can fax or email would be great Thanks Officer Smith 554 Fax Versailles Police 573 378 4631 cc 554 email versaillespd@sbcglobal.net

Gallatin PD can't offer how we do it...yet.
Chief Richards and I will be attending ALICE certification on September 24-25 in Liberty. We have already had one training session for all staff, including support services the day before school started. We also had local media present with a pretty good write-up in the paper.
I firmly believe quarterly drills should be conducted to keep both staff and students cognizant of their individual responsibilities. We usually conducted scheduled and unscheduled drills on half-days, to lessen the impact on classroom instruction time.
If your Agency has a Facebook page or other social media abilities, use that venue as a way to offer what your Agency and area schools are doing as far as training emergency response(s). Consider going on local tv/radio for PR segments. We would often go on the airwaves in Arizona during an hour long community presentation, which would be recorded and replayed often.
Another option is if your Agency or community has a local information channel on TV. Payson AZ partnered with our cable provider, offering an hour long tv program dealing with community affairs. Pretty cool with lots of immediate feedback via call-in questions.
More when my mind wakes up...
