www.llrmi.com/articles/legal_update/2015_gray_v_bostic.shtmlI'm certain all SRO's are well versed on Use of Force guidelines on students, however, there is a gray area many of us may have wiggled our toes in from time to time. The article above is one of those gray areas which we should keep in the forefront of our minds at all times. While well-intended SRO's may wish to convey a non-threatening moment of education in some incidences where physical restraints are loosely applied, we should probably look at the larger picture, especially in today's civil suit engorged society. Discuss the article with your associates, supervisors, chiefs/sheriffs, and legal team (school lawyers and agency lawyers), then decide whether or not it's okay to cuff up the student for the educational moment. - David
